Power Boat Courses
The RYA Powerboat level 2 Course is a two day course aimed at the beginner
to boating as well as people with experience wanting to sharpen their
skills and get a certificate. After succesful completion of this course
the International Certificate of Competence can be gained from the RYA,
this licence will enable the holder to use a boat abroad.
Typical course itinerary
DAY ONE
09.00 Meet at ‘New Dawn Diver’ pier D2 Berthons Marina,
Bath Road, Lymington, Hampshire. Coffee and welcome to course.
09.30 Lecture: Types of craft and hull design.
10.30 Lecture: Engines and drives.
11.30 Lecture: Safety and ancillary equipment.
12.30 Lunch
14.00 Change into wet weather equipment, prepare boat and people for
sea.
17.00 Secure boat, wash down and carry out shut down procedures.
DAY TWO
09.00 Meet at ‘New Dawn Diver’
09.30 Lecture: Charts and tides.
11.00 Lecture: Anchors and anchoring.
12.00 Knots and rope work.
12.30 Lunch
14.00 Change into wet weather equipment, prepare boat and people for
sea.
17.00 Secure boat, wash down and carry out shut down procedures.
Included in course is RYA Power boating log book G20, all tuition,
boat, fuel and buoyancy aids.
Not included in course is wet weather equipment, lunch and accommodation.
If required overnight accommodation can be booked on board ''New Dawn
Diver'' at a cost of £15, or B & B locally for £30.
Course cost £199.
