PADI Divemaster Course
The PADI Divemaster course consists of three modules:
Knowledge development, water and stamina skills and practical application.
There are twelve knowledge development modules, these are covered by
independent study, projects and discussions.
Your independent study will include using the manual and completing
the knowledge reviews, plus use of materials such as the PADI Divemaster
DVD, the encyclopaedia of recreational diving and the diving knowledge
workbook.
After you complete your studies, you will take the PADI Divemaster
exam, which is a written test on the topics you studied. You will need
to achieve 75 per cent or better on each exam to get certified.
The water skills and stamina module have two goals - to develop and
evaluate your overall water skills and stamina and to improve upon your
existing SCUBA skills. You will complete several timed swims and other
exercises in confined water and you will refine your basic SCUBA skills
so that you can role model for beginner divers learning those skills.
You will also refine your rescue skills.
The practice application module allows you to learn and practice Divemaster
skills by applying what you learn during the knowledge development and
water skills and stamina modules. You will begin by completing four
required training exercises: A mapping project, an underwater problem
solving exercise, implementing a Divemaster conducted programme.
Assist on one continuing education course.
After the required training exercises you will have a chance to develop
and practice Divemaster skills with actual student divers and qualified
divers, under instructor supervision.
